Challenge Question

Search through the British Bill of Rights, the Magna Carta, and the Statute for Religious Freedom and find where the ideas of the U.S. Bill of Rights come from. Create a digital poster that would inform others of the origin of the following amendments from the U.S. Bill of Rights:
-1st Amendment/Freedom of Religion
-1st Amendment/Freedom to Petition
-2nd Amendment
-6th Amendment/Right to trial by jury
-6th Amendment/Right to a speedy and public trial
-8th Amendment

Rationale

After studying and examining the U.S. Bill of Rights, students will now explore the origin of some of the more familiar and frequently debated amendments. This challenge will provide students with the opportunity to make a connection to the British influences on our government past and present.
