Educator Opportunities

From digital education programs with Monticello educators to onsite professional development opportunities, we offer a variety of programming for teachers and students at Monticello.

The Monticello Teacher Institute is a summer fellowship open to teachers of American History. The immersive, weeklong, professional development opportunity provides teachers with the opportunity to research and study at Monticello. During the week teachers will take private tours, go on field trips, and be a part of sessions with Jefferson scholars. Three to four hour educator workshops offer a chance for teacher groups to dive deep into Jefferson related topics and learn how to bring Thomas Jefferson’s world to their classroom. Contact education@monticello.org for more information on teacher workshops.

A field trip to Monticello prompts students to strengthen their skills in historical inquiry by combining hands-on learning opportunities with the power of place. Scholarships are available for qualifying schools. Visit https://www.monticello.org/site/visit/school-fieldtrips to learn more.

If you can’t bring your students to Monticello, let us bring Monticello to your students! We now offer digital learning experiences and live virtual tours via Zoom. Find out more info here or email digital.learning@monticello.org to book a digital program.
