Sea of Liberty  |  image
Description

This image features an imagined scene of Bostonians’ resistance to the Stamp Act. The image was produced by a German-Polish engraver almost twenty years after the Stamp Act, in the year following the end of the American Revolution. The image was meant to promote the spirit of liberty and resistance to despotism within European nations.
