The Virginia Gazette

Sea of Liberty  |  document
Description

The Virginia Gazette was published in Williamsburg from 1736 to 1780. The newspaper contained information from other colonies, England, other nations, and local merchants who advertised their goods for sale. The growth of the colonial press was a major factor compelling the emergence of anti-British sentiment in the years before the American Revolution.
