Description

The image portrays the Battle of Quebec, a turning point in the French and Indian War. Begun on September 13, 1759, British forces launched an assault by landing their ships on the Plains of Abraham outside the heavily defended city. Both the French leader, the Marquis de Montcalm, and the British leader, General James Wolfe, died in the battle that followed.
