Description

This image is from among Englishman John White’s watercolor drawings of the Algonquian Indians. White was a thoughtful and respectful observer of Indian life near the Roanoke colony, settled in 1585. In an effort to promote colonization, White depicted America as a land of abundance, demonstrated by the size, variety, and quantity of fish available.
