This is an image of the Bank of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Designed by Benjamin Henry Latrobe, the architect of the U.S. Capitol, the bank was first established in 1780 in order to provide funds for the Continental Army. After the American Revolution, the bank aided the Pennsylvania government in regulating the state’s economy.
