Description

Published in January 1776, Thomas Paine’s COMMON SENSE made the case for an immediate separation of the colonies from Great Britain. It attacked hereditary privilege, exposed the failures of the monarchy, and made the case for a republican form of government. Written in language that ordinary people could understand, the pamphlet quickly sold over 100,000 copies.
