Description

This document is the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution which guarantees women the right to vote. The amendment was first introduced to Congress in 1878 and it took over forty years of protests, writing, and lobbying to pass. While women could vote in some states and territories prior to 1920, this amendment made the right universal.
