This image depicts an early conflict during the French and Indian War that occurred near Lake George in upstate New York. General William Johnson and his American Indian allies tangled with Baron de Dieskau and his American Indian allies. Although neither side achieved victory, the battle provided an opening wedge for the British against French defenses in Canada.
