Description

William Pitt was George III’s minister during the French and Indian War. He crafted the strategy that insured Britain’s victory over France. Later, as a member of Parliament, he opposed the Stamp Act. His speech on January 14, 1766 made a crucial distinction that acknowledged Parliament’s right to legislate for, but not to tax, the colonies.
